How does Apple Reference Image prove a photo is real?
Apple's Reference Image signs a frame inside the iPhone 18 Pro image sensor with an ECDSA P-256 key whose private half never leaves the sensor. Apple declines C2PA because it attaches provenance after capture. The chain also contains a Private Cloud Compute confidence score produced by a neural network with hidden weights.
